Shitdisco

These precious little angles call themselves Shitdisco. I don’t know why, maybe they were deprived of having a puppy when they were munchkins. What I do know is they rip.
As part of my never ending quest to search youtube for popup book excitement I found this. If you have not seen it its pretty rad. So watch it and don’t ever tell me I never did anything for you. ;)

Video for Shitdisco’s song “OK”. Pop-up book puppetry at it’s best! Directed by Price James. (www.myspace.com/pricejames) Visit www.myspace.com/shitdisco for more info and music!

Delight

delicious

While Surfing (the web) today I came across Delight.com(via NOTCOT). I have seen it before on one of those mad-dash-christmas-gift-gathering-web-freak-outs, and this is totally one of those places that I forgot my loved ones entirely and went on a mentally-justifying-buying-crap-for-myself-binges. Some of their stuff is pretty expensive, but by and large it’s all really cool/well designed/innovative/good for the environment.

Also their jewelry makes me wish I could wear metal, like enough that I may be willing to suffer some hives to wear it, because it’s marvelous.

I don’t have tattoos but if I did….

I will continue to add these. There is some great stuff out there!

Shrinky Dink Typography of Course!

p1040476

I made this as my friday night font book last semester. It reminds me of a necklace I used to wear with charms all over it when I was five. At the time I felt it made me look like Madonna. I had this fantasy of being able to ride the tricycle in the kindergarden playground with my charm necklace, lace skirt outfit, silver tap shoes, scrunchie socks, feathered bangs and braces. Sadly my teeth were straight, and my mom had this thing about me leaving the house looking like a psychopath. Anyway, at least I know why this necklace makes me so very happy.

Party Bug Face Painting

p1040545

So sometimes on the weekends I do a little moonlighting as a face painter at kids birthday parties. It’s a lot of fun, and I especially like having the kids come up with outlandish ideas of what they want. It sure keeps me on my toes… The little girl above sat down and wanted to be a skull! Right on.

Death of Newspapers?

news

I saw a re-run of Real Time with Bill Maher this weekend and Bill talks about the “Death of Newspapers.” It was a really interesting discussion, and well worth a quick look at the comments over at his HBO site! We just started a project in my senior port class that explores this very problem through design, and I will be posting our ideas soon!
